FIAT Fenrir

Bitcoin’s Honey Badger vs. FIAT’s Fenrir. Ragnarök - the final battle between the chains of debt and slavery, and sound money of freedom. Bitcoin will end FIAT and the money printer once and for all.

The Nordic myth of the powerful Fenrir wolf inspired me to create this artwork. To me, the struggle between today’s monetary system and Bitcoin as a tool of freedom for the people - the true separation of state and money - is the most important battle of our life time.

Twilight of
the gods

The Fenrir wolf (often just called Fenrir) is one of the most fearsome creatures in Norse mythology. He is the monstrous wolf, child of the trickster god Loki and the giantess Angrboða. From birth, Fenrir grew at an unnatural pace, so much that the gods quickly realized he would become a great threat. Bound and chained, Fenrir waited for his destined moment: Ragnarök, the “twilight of the gods.” In this final battle, Fenrir breaks free, spreading terror across the world. He is fated to kill Odin, the All-Father himself, before being slain in turn by Odin’s son, Víðarr.

That’s why Fenrir is seen as a symbol of unstoppable destruction, fate, and the collapse of old orders.

The sketch

With this artwork, I took my time with the sketch. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to depict the honey badger fighting the Fenrir wolf. With every sketch, it’s important to keep in mind that the overall composition of the artwork is already being determined.

Drawing fur

With every new artwork, I quickly realize how much I love drawing fur, flowing surfaces, and dynamic elements. The ballpoint pen is perfect for this, as it moves smoothly and allows me to create strong contrasts.

The Money Printer

My Fenris Wolf clutches a money printer, shackled by the chains of this one-dimensional financial system - both physically and mentally. The Honey Badger, known to all as the perfect animal-representation of Bitcoin, attacks the wolf - partly to free him, and partly to destroy his malevolent nature.

ECB surveillance tower

In my observation, I have noticed that the EU and especially the ECB, as its executive arm is increasingly taking on dystopian characteristics. As a warning and symbolic statement, I have drawn an ECB surveillance tower, with a massive spotlight camera in the background, reminiscent of Sauron’s tower. The imagery is strikingly accurate.

Bitcoin’s cadmium orange

I promised myself to keep my art in black, white, and orange, and so far, I’ve managed to stick to it. One day I might experiment with oil paints, but until then, each artwork remains a mosaic of shades of gray, highlighted by the signal hue of Bitcoin’s cadmium orange.

The final artwork

I’m always amazed at the effect a frame can have on a picture. It amplifies the characteristics of a work of art tremendously. That’s why choosing the right frame is so important.

Armed with knowledge

We Bitcoiners do not fight in the traditional sense. It is a fight without violence, armed only with the knowledge that every fiat currency will one day collapse and spiral into hyperinflation. It is only a matter of time. We Bitcoiners look at the fiat-made problems of this world with a sense of amusement, because we already know we have won. The world just needs a little longer to realize it. Bitcoin art is a beautiful way to document this evolution.
